SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION: WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
The complicated topic of SEO has filled hundreds of books and articles, and would stuff this blog way beyond capacity, but if we’re talking websites that work, it’s central to the subject. After all, it’s one of the ways to get the people you want to your beautiful website. And it certainly illustrates that you have to put the right content in to get the best results out of your website, because in order to stand apart from your competitors and get the attention of your audience, search engine advertising is a must. Even word-of-mouth referrals use the Internet to look you up. And they can do it because of Search Engine Optimization.
In a previous blog, I outlined content writing. Here’s where your website has to do double duty. It’s got to be appealing to the people who come to your site, but also has to be written in such a way that it contains information that search engines and their robots will pick up. Important elements are: key words and phrases and their placement, easy page navigation, content quality and freshness, multi-device ready pages, and the design of the website, itself.
In summary, SEO can determine how high your website ranks on the search list—and it can be important to your website’s success, because at least 30% of people will click on the top listing for the term they’re searching.
